I used to love Mexican pizza from [that taco place you love]! I couldn’t get enough! When I was in college, I would literally eat them for lunch and dinner every day (when I had the money). Unfortunately, those places don’t serve the healthiest food, and now that I’m older, I have to think more about making healthy choices.
I still love Mexican pizza, but now I can make them better (and healthier) at home… and so can you!
The recipe calls for chili powder, cumin, paprika, salt and pepper. You can, of course, replace those with my homemade taco seasoning if you have it handy. If not, there’s no time like the present to make up a batch for occasions just like this. Brown, drain and rinse the ground beef. Then add 3 tablespoons of the taco seasoning and 2/3 cup water to ground beef. Stir well and simmer for 5 minutes over medium heat.
[yumprint-recipe id=’10’]I like hot and spicy foods, so I use jalapenos on mine. If you’re not into the heat, by all means omit the jalapenos… and if you’re really adventurous, you could always try habaneros. If you’ve got a death wish, go with the ghost chili peppers (bhut jolokia) or the Carolina reaper. I would highly advise against those peppers, though… HIGHLY advise against!
