Would it surprise you to know I have cooked competition chili before? I have competed in local chili cook-offs. While I didn’t win, I did come in 2nd in the “People’s Choice” division. That means the people liked it, right? Well, I’m here to share my BASIC homemade chili mix recipe with you!
Much like the taco seasoning packets in the stores, the chili mix packets aren’t the healthiest things in the world. Chemicals, fillers, blah blah blah… You know the routine. Let’s just make our own homemade chili mix, shall we?
This is so easy it’s funny. Gather your hardware (measuring spoons and cups, a jar, masking tape or other type of label, and a marker or pen) and your software (the spices).
As with the homemade taco seasoning, I put all the ingredients into a big bowl and mix it up with a whisk, then pour it into the jar, but you can always pour the ingredients into the jar and shake.
