So your teenage child is into the homesteading life and/or is prepping along with the family. They’re at the age now where high school is about to be a fond memory, and the future lies ahead. Lots of them will be going off to college, living on their own for the first time, and making their own decisions that will mold how they will live their lives as adults. You, as a responsible, loving parent, want to see them do well and succeed, so you want to give them a gift that will actually help them, right? Well, you’re reading the right post here for some great graduate gifts!
Versatile, compact, and great to have in an emergency, a good multi-tool is great for your graduate. When kept in their pocket, backpack or purse, it’s ready at a moment’s notice for just about anything.
Vehicle Emergency Kit
First Aid Kit
You definitely want your graduate to be safe, but accidents happen. They’ll need a good first aid kit stocked with band aids, antiseptics and antibiotic creams. You can put one together yourself, or you could buy a ready-made kit just about anywhere.
A basic tool kit with just a couple of basic screwdrivers, a small hammer, and a pair of pliers would be a good start. If your teen is particularly mechanically inclined, maybe you could get them a bigger tool kit so they can do some of their own repairs.
Your grad may not need a super nice tactical flashlight, but something smaller like this would do. You just don’t want them caught in the dark. You could even pick up something from the dollar store. Just don’t forget the batteries!
Lots of times, college students like to do college student type things like hanging out in the quad, playing flag football, or sitting under a tree studying. Unfortunately, there are no power outlets to plug up their phones to charge. Get them a solar charger. It’s also great in case of a power outage.
Hopefully, your child won’t be in a room with a clepto, but just to be sure their valuables are safe and secure, pick them up a diversion safe. There are books, cleaners and clocks that all may look innocent enough, but your grad will know the truth — there’s something more inside! They even make locking ones in case someone catches on to them!
Homemade Cleaning Products
A great idea for your graduate is to make up some homemade, eco-friendly cleaners for them to use in their dorm or apartment! Citrus cleaner, laundry detergent, and stain remover are a must, and be sure to include some dishwasher detergent for those grads going into apartments!
Homemade Body Products
Send your graduate off to college with smooth, clear skin with the help of some homemade body products that you made yourself. They’ll love them! Adrienne over at WholeNewMom.com makes her own foaming soap, sugar scrub, and citrus body wash.
Manual Can Opener
When I was in college, like most kids, I lived on Ramen noodles and canned food (mainly tuna). If the power ever went out, it was rough opening those cans. Make sure your grad has a manual can opener or two handy. Make sure they also know how to use it!
